You don't actually know how it started, or even why. Mykran just wouldn't tell you. It happened 1 sweep ago.
You were on your way to Myrkan's respiteblock to play games and check inventions. Usual stuff. Just when you were about to knock on the door, you heard a blood curling scream that still haunts you to this day. It was Mykran. The door was unlocked, so you immediatly entered and ran towards the source of the scream. On the way you heard sounds of flesh being hit as Mykran's screams grew weaker. You eventually arrived to Mykran's machinery lab and witnessed a horrible scene.
The lab was in shambles. Most of the machines were nothing but scrap metal, and teal blood was splattered everywhere. Myrkan's lusus was missing almost all of his tentacles and was barely recognizable. Most importantly, Mykran herself was there, being held up by a feral looking female troll unknown to you at the time. The attacker was startled by your presence and threw Mykran aside. She fell to the floor like a ragdoll, It looked like most if not all of her bones were broken. The poor girl could barely produce a sound, but it was obvious she was in incredible pain. It didn't take long for her to collapse under such stress
The monster troll slowly approached you. Her eyes were bloodshot and still hungry for more carnage. You just stood there, paralyzed with fear. Just when she was at an arm's distance from you, she just stopped. Her eyes became slightly more normal and she made a confused expression while looking all around the place. It was then when she seemingly realized she was covered in Mykran's blood, she turned her back to you and observed her victim.
A few seconds must have passed of that monster looking at Mykran all confused, but they felt like an eternity. Finally, she just ran away, leaving the two of you alone
You mustered the strength to move your legs again and quickly dashed to Mykran's side. You made the mistake of trying to carry her to her recuperacoon. The moment you moved her from her position, her eyes lit up and she began screaming in pain. You tried to slowly put her back on the floor as she collapsed again, but by this point you were crying in panic. You looked around the ruined lab, hoping you would see something, anything that could help you. You eventually found a strange machine that seemed completely untouched by the whole event. A label on its side read "Instant Revitalizer Machine".
With no other ideas, you quickly used your psionic powers to lift the agonizing Mykran towards the machine. Even if you weren't touching her, this still moved her limbs around, causing her more surges of pain. You tried your best to not to lose concentration despite this and managed to stuff her inside the machine. You swiftly turned it on and saw its integrated screen

The process took about 4 hours to complete. You watched it in its entirety, although you couldn't see the inside of the machine when it was closed. After it was done, it automatically opened. Mykran was inside, in what looked to be a very uncomfortable rest.
You moved her to her recuperacoon safely and waited for her to wake up. It took 7 days. 7 days of constant stress and worry. You stood beside her all that time. You even bought some medical equipment so she could at least be somewhat fed and hydrated during that time. Despite your best efforts, you could see that her body was slowly but surely deteriorating.
You were about to give up all hope when finally, on the 8th day, she opened her eyes. She was very confused and disorientated. Ecstatic, grabbed her hand. That is when you noticed the first sign of what was to come. You squeezed that hand hard, and she tried to do the same, but you felt it tremble and move somewhat erratically. "She is just recovering", you told yourself.
A couple of hours passed. Mykran attempted to speak, but her speech was slurred and almost irrecognizable. She said something like "I can't feel my legs" or something like that. You looked at her face. She was scared, really scared. Her eyes shifted constantly and her breathing was fast and uneven
Another hour passed. To your relief, Mykran's speech was more intelligible now. "I want to stand up" she said, so you gladly helped her out of the recuperacoon. You held her arms first, expecting her to get her legs out herself. But she couldn't. She tried and tried and she couldn't. Tears started rolling down her face. "I cannot feel my legs" she said again, with a trembling voice. Concerned, you pulled her from the recuperacoon and tried to make her stand on her own, but anytime you tried to stop supporting her by the arms, her legs threatened to give in. Eventually you just resigned yourself to sitting Mykran in a nearby chair. She could not stop crying and trembling. You tried to assure her by saying that it was ok, that she was only recovering, that everything was going to be alright.
3 days passed since then. You stayed near Mykran the entire time, helping with anything she needed. She still could not stand up, but there was hope. She told you she could feel some weird "bugging" on her legs.
Then came that night. You slept in a recuperacoon a friend brought so you could always keep an eye on Mykran. It was well into the night when you began hearing sobs. You immediately woke up and went to check on her. "My arms feel buggy now. I can't move them" You also noticed she was moving her fingers frenetically, like wanting to always confirm she could control them. Her speech was regressing too. It was a little difficult to understand her.
You had tried to move her to a healing facility, but every practitioner that looked at her said the same thing: "Give her time and she will recover". So far the opposite was happening! You even tried to use that weird machine again, but it wouldn't even turn on now...
2 more days passed. By now, Mykran's speech was so slurred she had to speak really slowly in order for you to understand. Every night she cried herself to sleep as you tried to make her feel better in any way you could.
2 more days. Mykran was barely capable of moving her mouth now. You had to help her chew her food. That night, she tried telling you something, but you could not understand.
The next day came. Mykran stayed silent with a vacant stare all day. That night she finally tried to speak but again you could not understand
Next day. Mykran was still silent. That night she made noise anytime you tried to put her in her recuperacoon. Apparently she wanted to just sit in table that night. you obliged
The next day you understood why. When you woke up, you found her still sitting in the table, but she was breathing heavily and full of tears. You looked at the table. She had written a message by dragging her finger on the surface and using her blood as ink. Her index fingernail was cracked open and bleeding profusely. The writing was clumsy and barely grub-level. She had just finished writing it too. It took her all night.
It read "I WANT TO DIE"
====> Aarann: Stop reminiscing
You returned to the present time with a cold sweat and a sunken heart. You saw Mykran's response and shed a couple of tears. You will always be there for her. No matter what.
No matter what
RB: > I will be on my way then @Mykran! I will bring snacks #HangingOutWithMykran
You cleaned your face and reminded yourself that there was no reason to cry. She was still alive. She was still your friend. And you are going to make her happy.
With that resolve, you set out to her home.
